Young John Wesley works hard to earn his own salvation, but still cannot find lasting peace. His headstrong ways and self-righteous attitude brings conflict and rejection wherever he goes. Follow his journey across the stormy seas to the colony of Georgia where he fails as an evangelist, while breaking the heart of the beautiful Sophy. In defeat, the newly humbled Wesley returns to England in search of genuine faith - and the discovery of God's grace. Later founded the Methodist church.

J.S-H 1:8 "During this time of great excitement my mind was called up to serious reflection and great uneasiness; but though my feelings were deep and often poignant, still I kept myself aloof from all these parties, though I attended their several meetings as often as occasion would permit. In process of time my mind became somewhat partial to the Methodist sect, and I felt some desire to be united with them; but so great were the confusion and astrife among the different denominations, that it was impossible for a person young as I was, and so unacquainted with men and things, to come to any certain conclusion who was bright and who was wrong."

Com o correr do tempo, inclinei-me um tanto para a seita metodista e senti algum desejo de unir-me a eles; mas tão grandes eram a confusão e a contenda entre as diferentes denominações, que para alguém jovem como eu, tão inexperiente em relação aos homens e às coisas, era impossível chegar a qualquer conclusão definitiva acerca de quem estava certo e de quem estava errado."
