WILLIAM BRADFORD: THE FIRST THANKSGIVING (WILLIAM BRADFORD:O PRIMEIRO DIA DE ACÇÃO DE GRAÇAS)

William Bradford fled with the Pilgrims to the new world, where he discovered that the price for religious freedom was hunger, sickness and death. As a peacemaker, he befriended the Native Americans who taught the struggling Pilgrims how to survive. By the end of the first year, William Bradford became Governor of the new land. After their first critical harvest, he set aside time for the Pilgrims and their new Native American friends to feast together and express their thanks to God. Thus, William Bradford became the Father of Thanksgiving Day.


William Bradford fugiu com os peregrinos para o novo mundo, onde descobriu que o preço da liberdade religiosa foi, doença, fome e morte. Como pacificador, ele fez amizade com os nativos americanos que ensinaram os peregrinos a lutar para sobreviver. Até o final do primeiro ano, William Bradford tornou-se governador da nova terra. Após a sua primeira colheita, reservou um tempo para os peregrinos e os seus novos amigos índios para festejarem juntos e expressar seus agradecimentos a Deus. Assim, William Bradford tornou-se o Pai do Dia de Acção de Graças.
