LITERATURE OF BELIEF (LITERATURA DE CRENÇA)

At the foundation of great religions lie holy books. Not all religious books have the sacredness of scripture, but few religions survive and thrive without creating a literature of belief. This book contains proceedings from an Religious Studies Center symposium on such books. Seldom has the dialogue between the language of scholarship and the language of faith been so intense or sensitive. These proceedings reflect both the devotion believers feel for their scriptures and a rare respect that should mark each encounter with another’s sacred literature. 

Na base das grandes religiões encontram-se os livros sagrados. Nem todos os livros religiosos têm  santidade das escrituras, mas poucas religiões sobrevivem e prosperar sem a criação de uma literatura de crença. Este livro contém trabalhos de um simpósio Centro de Estudos Religiosos em tais livros. Raramente o diálogo entre a linguagem do conhecimento e a linguagem da fé foi tão intensa ou sensíveis. Estes processos reflectem tanto aos crentes a devoção sentida por suas escrituras e um respeito raro que deve marcar cada encontro com outra literatura sagrada.
